the association
Aims
Our association aims to help people discover and enjoy 7 areas surrounding La Chaux-de-Fonds. The start and finish of all 7 walks are accessible by public transport and the walks are designed to offer interesting views of La Chaux-de-Fonds, which is a watch-making city and UNESCO world heritage site.
Activities
The association will map and signpost these 7 walks, and use various media (a prospectus, a brochure, a website, an app) to inform people about them.
Signposts have been put along the paths in 2016 - 2017; the small metal signs have been made and put up in collaboration with Neuchâtel Randoand Ville de La Chaux-de-Fonds. Local residents and visitors are able to obtain a general plan of the walks, free of charge. It is even possible to use an app (7 abeilles). An illustrated brochure wiil describe each walk, give environmental information (about flora, fauna, topography, geology etc.) and mention points of historical interest.
The association also promotes the 7 paths by organising various events and activities. These may include guided walks for different groups of people: teenagers, families who have recently settled in the town, elderly people, members of immigrant communities, school groups. Regular, or one-off, mini-events could be organised, such as a walk plus fondue, a walk at full moon, a nordic walking race, a treasure hunt, a photo-rally and so on. These activities are organised in active or financial partnership with other private or public organisations.
Support
The association has about 100 members. Gifts from generous donors total 42,000 francs, including donations of 10,000 francs from the "Credit Suisse Foundation" to create an app for geo-positioning, as well as 15,000 francs from the "Loterie romande" to create a folding map (showing all 7 paths on a geographical map to a scale of 1:25,000) and to contribute to the cost of the signposts, as well as German and English translations of the website.
